BRIEF DESCRIPTION

The Pastoral Center project in the Ryasne district establishes a new community hub within a peripheral area of Lviv where a developed network of public spaces is currently lacking. The complex is intended to become a local focal point that stimulates social activity and creates opportunities for communication, education, and recreation.

The spatial organization encourages interaction between different age groups, supports a variety of use scenarios, and aims to facilitate integration into the life of the wider secular community. The composition of the complex is defined by welcoming façades, transparent ground-floor spaces, and a well-developed network of pedestrian connections. A semi-enclosed church courtyard creates an intimate public space for community events and informal gatherings. The contemporary and restrained architectural language emphasizes the openness of the parish community while maintaining strong visual connections between the buildings and their surroundings.

The Pastoral Center is located within the parish grounds adjacent to the Church of Saint Basil the Great and Blessed Oleksii. The project includes new construction and the comprehensive development of outdoor spaces, including a dining hall terrace, a children's terrace, a terrace adjoining the conference hall, an outdoor stage, and a spectator area. The existing chapel is proposed for demolition and replacement with a new ceremonial chapel arranged on two levels—an underground level and an above-ground level. The master plan is based on clear functional zoning and the separation of pedestrian and vehicular circulation routes.

The architectural concept combines the sacred function with multifunctional community spaces. The Pastoral Center is designed as an open structure integrated into the urban fabric of the residential district, featuring a clearly organized system of internal and external public spaces.

The master plan is based on clear functional zoning and the separation of pedestrian and vehicular circulation. The planning solutions take into account solar exposure, topography, and prevailing winds, ensuring a comfortable microclimate and efficient surface water drainage.

The project site is fully accessible to people with reduced mobility. Pedestrian routes, entrances, and public spaces are designed in accordance with the principles of universal accessibility and current regulatory requirements.
