SHORT DESCRIPTION

Restoration and adaptation of the Castle, which is a fragment of a more complex system of both architectural-territorial and temporal-historical, for modern functions, aims to give a powerful economic impetus to the development of the city of Zhovkva. As an icon of style, Zhovkva Castle is a clear reflection of the historical processes that took place during its existence: the economic ups and downs of states, changes in mood, owners, trends and tendencies in fashion.

Given the mental attachment to the historical heritage and the dream that the inhabitants of Zhovkva want to realize, in the form of a complete reproduction of the historic appearance of the castle, as a memory of a period of lost luxury, the restoration project we propose should be a well-considered compromise between whose main motto is “restoration should stop where the hypothesis begins”) and tolerance of the opinions of the residents of Zhovkva, the community of western Ukraine in general and researchers of castle buildings. Do not destroy what is preserved today, and keep the possibility of further research.

Neoplasms (portico, chapel…) have a reversible character. The hypothesis can always be reconsidered and changed in subsequent research on the monument.

Providing utilitarian functions of the object (adaptation) will provide constant care and capitalization of the object. The object should become the main public center of Zhovkva, the center - historical, art, educational.
